Dear Reader
We are seeing the activity of the divisions and I feel happy about it. I think an element of competitiveness is being felt by the individual divisions to promote their activities. On 6th June 2010, Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Regulatory Affairs Division organized a Seminar on Recent Trends in International Regulatory Affairs at Panjim, Goa and it was well attended and about 90 delegates participated in the seminar. A half day seminar on " Management of Expired Drugs" was organised by IPA Industrial Pharmacy Division on 19th June 2010 at Chennai. The program was successful. I compliment both IPA-RAD and IPA-IPD Chairmen for initiating their activities.
Again, on 27th June, a National Seminar on Clinical Research in Drug Development was arranged by the Education Division of Indian Pharmaceutical Association in collaboration with St Peter’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal. The organizers have a two fold objective namely that the scientific sessions will provide a platform for the young aspirants of research to understand the new avenues in the thrust areas of drug development, and to create awareness and update the knowledge in the current areas of clinical research. We generally observe that such seminars are generally held in the metropolis or state capitals, but I felt organizing such an event in a relatively smaller place but in an educational centre is quite laudable on the part of IPA-ED and the organizers. A good number of more that 300 delegates participated in the event where the topic was discussed and speakers from industry and educational institutes participated and expressed their views.
National Pharmacy Week is coming during November, 2010 and the theme is Safety First with Medicines- Ask your Pharmacist. The title itself suggests the important and vital role of pharmacist in the society as a health care provider. Community Pharmacy Division of IPA is entrusted with the responsibility of Nationwide Pharmacy week celebrations which is looking to the other details
Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Community Pharmacy Division had made a pilot study of accreditation of pharmacies in Mumbai and Pune and based on the experience, the IPA with its Community Division will launch program shortly of accreditation of pharmacies in the country with the active cooperation of All India Chemists & Druggists Organization, Mumbai. This program will however enhance and create better awareness for the services of the pharmacist in the community.
Readers are quiet well aware that in Pharma Times- June issue, nominations have been called for the prestigious awards like IPA-Fellow, IPA-RBP Life Time Achievement and IPA-Eminent Pharmacist of Indian Pharmaceutical Association to be given annually. The eligibility criteria and other conditions of the eligible applicants have been given in the Pharma Times and may I request the readers to nominate suitable candidates for the awards duly following the norms prescribed for such awards .
